She's here....Ava Grace Alexander

Another beautiful baby girl was born into the Alexander family on Sunday. Ava Grace Alexander was born at 4:21 on Sunday and weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and 20 1/4 in. long. She was born to my cousins Matt and Sara. (and their little boy, Lucas) The picture on the right is the proud Grandpa, my Uncle Steve! She is such a beauty! I can't wait to meet her.

Really starting to show...almost 18 weeks!

An early surprise...

John Allen surprised me yesterday and came home early from work. I was so excited to see him and get to spend some "extra" time together. Plus, he came home armed with Chick-Fil-A lunch and that would make any pregnant woman happy! We spent the afternoon cleaning most of the furniture out of the baby's room. So fun! We searched on the internet and found the crib that we like and will be ordering it soon. I can't wait to get things organized and ready for Baby Price to make it's debut! I know we have several months to go, but cleaning the room and the ultrasound on Thursday have got me in such a "BABY" mood! It's all I can think about. I guess it doesn't help that I sit at home most days watching baby shows and making diagrams of the nursery. For those that know me well, you know that I am a planner and extremely organized. John Allen is the same way, so I am sure we will have the nursery ready for baby months before it's actual arrival.
Another fun tid-bit, my good friend, Erin, is having her baby boy on Friday! 8-8-08...what a cool birthday! I wish her and her family the best...now they will have 3 boys!

Nana's Blankets

On my last trip home, Nana gave me my first handmade baby blanket. She has made these blankets for every baby born in our family including me! As a baby, I was always snuggled up in one of Nana's blankets and I feel so blessed to be able to pass this on to my child. I still have some of my original baby blankets at my parents house. I used to use them to wrap up all my dolls and play pretend parent!
My Nana is such a strong, Christian woman. She has set a wonderful example for me and the rest of the women (and men) in my family! I can only hope that we have many more years together!

Three, Two, One.....The Countdown has begun!

In just three short days we will be able to start calling our baby by name! I have had lots of people tell me how joyous it was to wait until the birth to find out the sex, but to John Allen and myself we will be overcome with joy on Thursday morning when the technician says "It's a ......" Currently our Guessing game results are Girl 17 and Boy 14! So close! We both feel like we want to be prepared. We want our nursery to be totally girly or very boyish! We want to call our baby by name for the rest of the pregnancy instead of sweet baby ( me) or farthead and sometimes Roscoe. (according to John Allen) I can't believe how quickly these last 18 weeks have passed. I thought I would never get to the point where we could find out the sex, but here we are! I am positive the rest of the pregnancy will go by just as quickly and we will be at the day when we finally get to meet the most beautiful gift that God has ever bestowed upon us!

Two years of wedded bliss!

Today we are celebrating two years of wedded bliss! I cannot believe how much my love for John Allen has grown over the past two years. On my wedding day, I could not imagine loving him more than I did that day! I look back on that day and wonder why I am so lucky. John Allen is the perfect man! He always knows what to do to make me feel special. He is my rock. This is such a special time for us as we prepare for the birth of our first child. I know John Allen will be a wonderful, loving dad. I cannot wait to see him hold our child!
I came home today to find these lovely orange roses and a sweet note from my darling hubby!! John Allen also surprised me the last week of school with diamond earrings. He hid them in my lunchbox with another sweet note. I know I have the best husband in the world!

Three generations of Friends

Monday morning started with a breakfast at my Mom and Dad's house. My mom had invited her best friends from high school, their mothers and kids over for breakfast. My grandmother (in the pink) is good friends with Mrs. Hunt. They have attended the same church for many years! My mom is good friends with Mrs. Hunt's daughter, Jan. I grew up playing at Jan's house with her daughter Brooke! It was so wonderful to see everyone. We had a great time talking and telling stories. We passed around wedding photos from mine and Ashley's wedding. Then mom went and pulled out her wedding album. We laughed at the bridesmaid's dresses and had a great time looking at how much our parents had changed in 20 plus years! My dad wore a blue tux at his wedding!!! How funny!
