Schools Out for SUMMER!

School is officially out for summer! We had our last teacher work day on Thursday! It feels so good to be able to relax and sleep in. I am currently looking for some type of summer job, but I have no idea what I want to do. I would love something that would not require me to be on my feet all the time but that is hard to find. I am hoping to make it to the beach for a day next week and see all of my Ocean Isle Crew! I need a vacation! Pregnancy is going well except for the occasional stomach upset and headache. We go back to the doctor on Monday and can't wait to be able to hear our little baby! We'll keep you posted!

My Second Graders

Well I decided to tell the children in my class today that their teacher was having a baby. I didn't want them to be shocked when they come back to school next year and see my ever growing belly. I created a math worksheet with addition and subtraction problems. They had to solve the problem and put the letter under the problem into the code at the bottom of the page. I told them if they finished early they were NOT supposed to tell anyone! They did a really good job. It was so cute to see the looks on their faces. When all students had finished the worksheet, they had a million questions. They all want the baby to be named after them! One boy even proceeded to tell me what he remembers about being in his mommy's belly. He said he remembered kicking her a lot and that she didn't like it one bit. How sweet! Sometimes I love being a teacher! Kids say the cutest things!

Morning Sickness

I think I have found my way to combat morning sickness....lots of saltines, ginger snaps and prayer. I find that if I eat some crackers before I get out of bed and throughout the day, I feel a little better and am actually able to eat! WooHooo! I was beginning to worry that I was being a bad mommy and not feeding my baby enough.

John Allen and I have had fun reading up on pregnancy. My mom and dad bought us several books while they were up here and I have enjoyed reading about what I am "making" this week. I always tell John Allen that I am extremely tired today because I was working on making arms and legs for our baby. He laughs! John Allen will probably kill me for saying this, but he takes his book with him to work and reads it at lunch. He comes home and tries to tell me all the things he learned today. I was complaining the other night about being sick to my stomach, and he said "Hang in there, honey, it is only supposed to last throughout the first trimester, you are almost there!" He has been so supportive and helpful. He cleans the house and cooks dinner most nights while I am usually taking a nap! What a wonderful guy!

Well three more school days left before summer! I can't wait to be out of school and away from the stress of the end of school (report cards, profiles, class lists, packing up the classroom, and not to mention the kids silly behavior!) Needless to say, I am counting down the days!

Parents Weekend

My parents came up to visit this past weekend. I am currently 8 weeks pregnant and the morning sickness has set in. I feel sick almost every day, but the good news is that that means the baby is doing well. We spent the weekend shopping for maternity clothes (soooo fun!!) and enjoying time together. My mom can't wait to buy baby clothes! I am sure this baby will be very well dressed! We worked in the garden and planted some cool plants that bloom every evening. My parents also brought up a huge tub of maternity clothes from my best buds, Ansley and Melissa. I had so much fun going through everything and making room for it in my closet. I am so blessed to have family and friends that are so supportive! My parents left on Sunday to head back to South Carolina. John Allen and I had a very relaxing Memorial Day. We spent most of the day indoors and resting. I have been very tired and John Allen is very understanding. He is such an amazing husband and I know he will be a terrific father.

Other Pictures from Our First Doctor Visit

Our First Doctor Visit

Our first visit to the Doctor was very fun! We got to see our little "peanut" and see the heartbeat. It was too early to hear the heartbeat. Our appointment was on May 19th and we were a little over 6 weeks along. The doctor wanted to do an early ultrasound because I was having some cramping and he wanted to make sure everything was fine. The baby looked great! Well it actually looked like a little white dot but I love it anyways. We found out that day that I have a pretty big cyst on my left ovary and we are going to monitor that as the pregnancy progresses. The doctor thinks it will disappear after the placenta takes over nourishing the baby. I also discovered that my blood is rh negative, so John Allen's blood has to be tested. If he has negative blood also, we are fine. If he has rh positive blood, I will have to get some shots later on in pregnancy to make sure my blood cells do not attack my little bundle of joy. Other than those things, We are doing fine! This is such an exciting time, I can't wait to go back to the doctor on June 16th. We can't wait to hear our baby's heart beat!

We are expecting!

We are excited to annouce that we are expecting! We found out on the morning of May 5, 2008. We had already taken two pregnancy tests that had resulted in a negative. We had one more test in the box. John Allen had already left for the day and I had just woken up to get ready for school. I decided to give the test one more try. I patiently waited until the results posted and could not believe my eyes when two lines appeared! I immediately called John Allen and sent him a text message of the test results. He could not believe it either! We were both very excited! We are looking forward to enjoying this amazing time in our lives and can't wait to meet our beautiful child. We are truly blessed and feel God's love every day!
