What? I'm a blogger?

First and foremost, I need to apologize for my lack of blogging for the past week. Things have been a little hectic around here as we prepare to move out of our home and I start another new job. BUT, no excuses...I WILL be better.

The caravan will make its way to Raleigh this weekend to officially move us out of our house. One moving truck, two hired movers, three days, four vehicles, and five VERY tired people is what I am expecting when we return to SC on Sunday. So please, don't expect much from me until the middle of next week. We will be recouping and I hope someone will be preparing a super fabulous birthday surprise (I'll be 28 on September 1st) for someone named "Mommy" or he (Daddy) just might be in the doghouse. Nah, no worries...I know he'll knock my socks off with his southern charm. He is the best at surprises!

Emma is still a little doll. The best behaved baby ever! She loves to shop and travel. She has never met a stranger. Her new favorite thing is books. Expecially the "Touch and Feel" ones. She is so cute sitting in the floor "reading" and feeling the books. I am expecting to have her take off any day now. She wants to be on the move so bad! She is not really into crawling though and we think she might just go straight into walking. She loves standing and walking when you help her!

Of course, the Tiger is her favorite! (Only 9 days until the season opener!)

Please pray for safe travels and a quick and easy move. (If that even exists!) See you soon! I promise!

She works hard for the money!

Well as of today, I have two part-time jobs. I will be working at Covenant Christian Academy teaching the two year old class from 8:00-12:30 and then I will be working at Northside Elementary in the After School Program from 2:00-5:30. Whew, I'm gonna be so tired, but at least we will be able to pay the bills. Not to mention that we sold a little place called "our home in NC!" Hopefully things will go well with the inspection and the house will be officially "SOLD" in a couple of weeks. Please pray for us and we transition into this new chapter of our lives.

Good Bye Old Home! As much as I wanted to sell this thing, I am a little sad to know that it is really sold. It was a good house and the one that saw many important events in our life unfold. The threshold that I was carried across after our honeymoon. (Yes, A true Southern gentleman like my husband insisted that he carry me across!) It was Emma's first home. A house that we truly made a home. Part of me will always miss it, but the other (bigger and more significant) part says "See Ya Later Alligator!!" (I've been around kids too much!)

Sensational Seven Month Old

Emma, You are seven months old today! (well, yesterday...but seriously school starts tomorrow and things have been a little crazy around here!)
~You have a mohawk. Mommy really wishes your hair would grow in on the side, but at least you finally HAVE some hair. Beggers can't be chosers, right?

~You are the sweetest thing on the planet. You love to snuggle in bed with Mommy and Daddy.

~You are wearing 6-9 month clothing, but you can still wear your 3-6 month dresses. You are such a petite little thing. You are VERY long. You always outgrow your sleepers before anything else.

~You are an official card carring member of the Paci-Lovin' Club. (PLC) It makes your gummies feel oh so good!

~ Mommy loves your little toothy grins. You love to smile at strangers. You're always a hit in the grocery store!

~ You are a big flirt. You flirt a lot with Preston in your Sunday School class, but Preston's mom and I have agreed that ya'll won't be able to date until your at least 30. Daddy says 35!

~You love tags and plastic cups! I should just get some tags and cups to give you for Christmas and your birthday. Cheap and oh so fun!

~You still love your exercauser. Best gift ever!

~You talk ALL the time. Your favorite phrases are Dada, Nya Nya, and we are working on Mama. The other morning, Daddy got you out of bed and brought you to our room. I was still sleeping and you said "Wake Up!" Plain English, ya'll. We were in shock! (I'm sure it was just a fluke!)

~You weigh a little less than 17 pounds.

~ You love to eat. Yogurt has quickly become your favorite.

~You love music. Your favorites are You are My Sunshine, Jesus Loves Me, and Goodnight Sweetheart. (the song from Three Men and A Baby)

~We are thinking about letting you join the Red Hat Society!

Mommy and Daddy love you so much! It is amazing how quickly time passes. It is hard to believe that you have been in our lives for seven months! Every day I wake up and love you more!

Something New...for both of us!

Emma started biter biscuits. They are fun and very messy! She loves being able to hold her own food. She has been dying to take the spoon from me for the past several weeks during feeding time. *Sigh* She is growing up way too fast!

Oh and... by the way, I got a job! I will be teaching a two year old class at a private christian school. This is something new and exciting for me! I've never worked with two year olds before. Twelve two year olds, whew...I should have some stories to tell! Enjoy your weekend!

It's a Tuesday Thing ~Favorite Songs

Well, it's that time again. Tuesday is the day I have chosen to do my weekly blog carnival (or whatever you call it). Feel free to join in. I started this so I could learn more about you..yes you! Today's topic is favorite songs. Let me start by saying that I LOVE music! I could set my life to music and have a little Kate Musical. That would be rather funny! Here are some songs that I would definately include in my musical.

  1. "My Girl" by The Temptations
  2. "At Last" by Etta James

  3. "If I had a Million Dollars" by Barenaked Ladies

  4. "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey

  5. "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica

  6. "Better Together" by Jack Johnson

  7. "Fancy" by Reba McEntire

  8. "Baby Blue" by George Strait

  9. Any and all Alabama songs...exp. "Dixieland Delight"

  10. "Amazing Grace" by John Newton

  11. "Nightwish" from Phantom of the Opera

  12. "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor

  13. "Under the Boardwalk" by The Drifters

  14. "Lover Lay Down" by Dave Matthews Band

  15. "Clemson Fight Song".....Go Tigers!!

I'm sure I would change this list a million times. I tried to think of my all time favorites and they would make up one darn-tootin' good musical. A little romance, a little shagging at the beach, a tiny bit of rock-n-roll and a good 'ole country song. If you would like to play, leave a comment below or write about your favorite songs on your blog and link back to mine using the MckLinky below. This is always so fun!

I will be on a little blogging holiday for the rest of this week. I am putting the nose to the grindstone, burning some pavement, taking the bull by the horns...I'm focusing entirely on job searching and resume giving out. Please pray that I find a good school home soon. I feel lost. I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Mighty/Not Me Monday

Lindsay attempted this a couple of weeks ago. I don't think mine will be that eloquent, but I'll give it the 'ole college try.

We might have found our absolute dream house. Even though it slightly borders a not so great side of town...it is absolutely gorgeous. We absolutely did not call the poor owner and get her hopes up that we could afford the house ehhhem don't already own a home we can't sell were interested buyers and VIEW said house. And we definately did not fall head over heels for it and H-A-V-E to have it. Therefore, regretting that we even found it in the first place. Not us? Right?

We might be a little pee green with envy because Brit (whom I don't know, well only in blog world) sold her house in like four days. Brit, if you read this. I am terribly happy for you guys...just a wee bit envious.

I am certain I did not email principal after principal trying to find a job, any job. At this point, I am even considering applying for a custodian position. Only problem is I don't do bathrooms. That might be a pretty big problem. I did NOT do that. Not Me!

I might be growing ever more frustrated. I don't like the whole searching for a job thing. Just want to find something and stay there. Forever. (Or until I am old enough to retire)

And since I haven't posted pics of sweet little Em in a while. Here are a couple to make you smile.

"You will never guess what I just did!"

"I can stand on my own!"

"How exciting!"
Check out MckMama and Babbling Abby. Love both of these Monday Funday blogs.

Show us your Flaws

Since beginning this blogging thing, I have often thought about how people just don't really blog about what is "not right" in their life. In blogging world, people are nice and sweet and perfect, right? So to go along with my "Show us your life" post, I wanted to post a "Show us your flaws" post.

  1. I hardly ever floss. Maybe once every other week. I try to get better about doing it. Expecially right before I go to the dentist, but I just forget.
  2. I am overweight. Yeah, I just had a baby...I know. I am tired of these extra pounds, but I find it hard to self motivate and get out there and DO something about it. I wish I had enough money to join a gym and get a personal trainer.
  3. I let laundry pile up. I don't mean just a few baskets either. I mean I forget about it for a week or two and when I finally get around to doing it I have loads upon loads to do. Then I almost always...leave a load in the washer, forget about it, and then have to wash it again.
  4. My nails are atrocious. I don't take care of them and I never paint them. My cuticles are horrible and my nails are flimsy and I hate them. End of story.

What are some of your flaws?

Show Us Your Life~ Part Two "The Honeymoon"

***WARNING***

This is a boring post with lots of pics and few words. I'm too tired to do anything else.

We honeymooned in Riveira Maya, Mexico. We stayed at an all-inclusive hotel, The Palace Resorts. It was for adult couples only and that was nice.

The view from our doorway. Beautiful little terrace.
Getting ready to go snorkling. The hubs had fun. I did not. I kept freaking out thinking JAWS was around the corner coming to eat me for lunch. I'm not a big fan of swimming in the ocean.

We swam with dolphins.

Good thing I didn't see the show "When Dolphins Attack" before we left to go on the honeymoon.
Dolphin Kisses.

One of our excursions to ancient Mayan ruins. Gorgeous!

I hate to even look at these photos. I was so skinny back then. Now even I don't like to look at myself in a bakini!

Me and the Hubs. Just chillin'.

The view from our balcony.

Lounging on the outside beds.

Horseback riding in wet bathing suits. NOT a good idea.

One of our last nights. We really enjoyed all the good free food. It was nice to go out to dinner and not have to worry about paying for it.

It would be nice to go back someday. Maybe for our 25th wedding anniversary!

Show Us Your Life~ Receptions

We had a beautiful reception at a huge plantation home in my hometown. It was a gorgeous July day and night. Our wedding was held at 6:00 so we had a late night reception.
We danced to "At Last" by Etta James. My dad and I danced to "My Girl."
My only complaint was that my legs were hot. I wish I would have thought to buy two wedding dresses...one for the ceremony and a lighter one for the reception. I love this pic. My dad's family is looking at me like I am crazy and I'm just grinnin'. I don't think I stopped smiling all day!

A toast! My hubby was nervous (I guess) when we did our toast. We intertwined arms and I took a small sip. I looked up and JAP had drank the champagne like a shot. Funny guy!

Our great band. If you need one, check them out. Those Guys are headed up by my uncle. He's the lead singer and the one in the middle.

Dancing the night away. We had so much fun dancing to the good music. Late into the night, we had a short thunderstorm. It cooled things down and the music started up again. We danced for hours!

And hours... (My hubby and his best friend doing their signature dance moves.)

And hours more dancing.

Finally it was time to leave. We decided to do bird seed. NOT a good idea to leave the bird seed out in the rain. We had bird seed stuck to us EVERYWHERE!
I will have to do a Honeymoon post later. I just finished cooking for our family reunion tomorrow. We have a jam packed weekend full of two family reunions and a yard sale. Whew. I'll be ready for rest and relaxation on Monday!
Remember to go to Kelly's Korner to check out all the beautiful wedding receptions. Have a great weekend ladies and gents!

Favorite Things Tuesday~ Baby Items You Can't Live Without

We hit a slump last week. Not that it is a big deal. I would be happy if I had one person reading my blog....Hey Mom! I know you're reading this! Anywho, on to this weeks topic. I know SO many bloggers are new parents or parents-to-be, so I decided to dedicate this week to the "I would die without this baby item" items. Here are a few things that are crucial around our house.....

Can't live without this. Emma has sensitive skin and this works WONDERS! I love Aveeno!

Funky Name, but GREAT product. I tried lots of diaper rash cream. This and Burt's Bee's are my favorites so far.

Instant Entertainment. Do you need to fix a bottle, dry your hair, take a shower? THIS comes in very handy and Ems L-O-V-E-S it. I think I dedicated an entire blog to this wonder of plastic several months ago. Check it out.

For "those" nights when your baby drinks too much. No seriously, Ems has ruined outfits. Peed through her pajamas, snuggie, and sheets. Ewwwww...Gross! I just try not to think about the fact that she probably lays in it for a while before she wakes up and I see that it was one of "those" nights. Double Gross!!!!!

Snuggle Bunny~ A gift from a girl (Hannah) who has her own snuggle bunny. Emma loves to cuddle with it while she is falling asleep. She rubs it against her face. Too cute! I think I might need to invest in some back-up snuggle bunnies. Just in case!

Every Mommy needs a good pump. Buy one, Borrow one, Rent one, GET ONE!

Yeah, I'm one of "those" moms. I still swaddle Ems every night. She wouldn't have it any other way. Believe me, we tried.

Are there things that you and your baby cannot live without? Tell us all about it. Who knows, maybe you will find a new baby favorite.

And because I can't put up a post without a pic of my sweet preciousness. Here she is sitting in her throne...aka the Swing!

Be sure to link you blog to mine below and ENJOY! Next week...Favorite Songs.

Mighty Monday

I might be glad that Abby started this Monday thing because I was tired of Not Me Monday.

I might have let Emma go "swimming" in a bucket because we left her pool at my aunt's house.

She might have loved it. I might do it again!

I might have gone to a wedding of a sweet dear friend this weekend. She just might have been a beautiful bride.

I might be growing ever more frustrated with this job market. I might WILL keep plowing on...sending resumes, interviewing, reading job websites until I finally land something...ANYTHING with benefits and decent pay! Praying that it is a teaching job!

I might have decided that what I want is not important. I need to just follow and trust in God. He has a plan.

I might be out of things to say this Mighty Monday. Enjoy your week and have a Mighty Monday!

TOMORROW'S FAVORITE THINGS~ Favorite Baby Items, What you can't live without.
