Double-Dog Promise

I promise. I double-dog promise that pictures will make a return to my blog VERY soon. We are meeting with the internet company tomorrow and hopefully will be back "online" before the end of the week.

We have been SO busy these past few weeks. With the dreery job market and the promise of finding a job for the next school year very slim, I have decided to go back to school and get my Masters. I start classes THIS THURSDAY! I am so scared but I know this is something I want to do and I also know that I need to do it before more kiddos join our mix.

We have been keeping ourselves busy with Insanity (a crazy workout program), working in the yard of our new house, and organizing/cleaning. We had a yard sale and walk/ran a 5K to raise money for the March of Dimes.

Emma celebrated her 15 month birthday and made a visit to the doc for more shots (boo) and a check-up. She hasn't gained an OUNCE since her 12 month visit. The doc doesn't seem concerned. She was still in the 50% percentile for weight. She was 32 inches long and in the 90% percentile for height. The doc predicted that she will be tall like her Mommy and Daddy. (Big surprise!)

Check back later this week for a post with nothing but pictures. I double-dog promise! (Who came up with that phrase anyway?!?)

Hot Topic

Maybe I am just a disgruntled jobless (and job searching) teacher, but I am disgusted with the way this country is dealing with education. Here are a few thoughts on the subject.

  • Teachers (who already get paid far too less for the job they do) are getting pay cuts and forced days off without pay. Class sizes are rising and help (teaching assistants, remedial help) is diminishing. Who does all this hurt? THE KIDS!
  • Teachers are being asked to perform miracles to get students to high levels but the resources that were used in the past are being taken away and most teachers are left to buy supplies and other teaching materials out of their own (broke) pockets. Some teachers I know are even having to buy copy paper!

I know the economy is bad and that cuts have to be made, but teachers are molding the future. The future doctors, lawyers, teachers....presidents. Can we really afford to make these drastic cuts and expect the same results? I think this country needs to get their priorities straight and put a BIG focus back on education. What do you think?

Still NO pics

I wish I could convince my hubby to just GET internet at our house. I was happy to live without for a week...maybe even two......BUT it has been T-H-R-E-E weeks!! I can't upload pictures. I can't write about how silly Em was the other day and include pictures to prove it. This just STINKS! Someone please call AT&T and tell them to show up at (did you think I would really tell you my address...Please! I don't want any creepy peeps showing up at my door. I'm sure ya'll are all normal and all, but you never know! ) Soooooooo.....until we have internet again, my post will be boring and pictureless.

Love ya'll nonetheless!!

Easter 2010

Yes, we are still alive. We are still without internet and well....it really hasn't been THAT bad. I've kind-of enjoyed spending more time away from the computer (and TV for that matter).

Emma really enjoyed Easter this year. She participated in her very first Easter Egg Hunt. She wasn't that concerned with the eggs.........but she did find a good many in Baker's basket.

We hit up the local Spring Jubilee where she enjoyed the good music and little bit of fresh squeezed lemonade. (Mommy's favorite) Doesn't she look so tall in this pic? She is growing up SO quickly!

Easter Sunday was spent in Columbia with the hubby's family. Emma was wonderful in church. Not a peep when we dropped her off. I think she was in shock...there were about 17 kids in the nursery. They go to a VERY large church. We go to a very small church. There is only one other little boy in her class at our church.

After church, we headed to the grandparents house for some food and more egg hunting. Emma was not having it. She was T-I-R-E-D and not realy interested in eggs.

Found one!

I think her basket was a little heavy!?!

Super Girl

Here she is to save the day! Emma and I are enjoying a little Mommy/Daughter day. This morning, she HAD to put on my socks and play. Here she is....off to fight crime and save all the babies of the world from clothes wielding Mommies. If only she could just stay naked all day.

PS. SO SORRY for the lack of blogging. Moving is comsuming my time and we still don't have internet at the new house....so till next time!!

Fabulous Fourteen Month Old

Em, you are fabulous. Here are a few facts about you.

  1. Your newest thing is puttting food on your head. Just started today. I DO NOT like this game, but you think it is the best. Washing your hair after lunch is just NOT fun.

  2. You weigh 23 lbs. You wear 12-18 months clothing and size 4 diapers.

  3. You love to practice your animal sounds. My favorite is when we ask you what a sheep says. You scream BAA, BAA! Makes me laugh every time. You also can do ducks, cow, dog, cat, and tiger.

  4. I don't think you sit down all day. You walk from one toy to another. I want to put a pedometer on you to see how many miles you walk a day!

  5. You LOVE to read. Makes my heart happy because I LOVE to read. Right now you love to read your rainbow book.

  6. You are getting pretty good at feeding yourself.

  7. You have 12 teeth! I'll tell you one thing, MOLARS ARE NO FUN!

  8. You wear your Keds almost every day.

  9. Your favorite foods are cheese, strawberries, apple sauce, and pasta pick ups.

  10. You have officially dropped your morning bottle and now drink your milk from a sippy cup. You should drop your night time bottle too, but Mommy is just NOT ready.

Em, every day I am so thankful to be your Mommy! You are the sweetest cuddlebug there is and we love you to pieces! HAPPY 14 MONTHS!

My weekend...in pictures.

This past weekend, we did A LOT of this.

DRIVING!

We drove. We sang silly songs. We laughed and tickled our babies. We had fun!

We went to a birthday party. We enjoyed playing with the other kids. Em ate TWO cupcakes and some ice cream. Wonder where she gets her sweet tooth? Hmmm?

We worked a little in the new house. Daddy worked A LOT!

We topped off the weekend with a birthday dinner for Ans. The food was not that great and the service was terrible, but the company was entertaining and definately the BEST part of the night.
The weekend was busy and fun. So far, the week has been long and exhausting. Em is sick with some sort of cough/stuffy nose/cranky all the time/ doesn't want to sleep thing. So I am pooped from the late night parties in Em's crib. Ready for a good nights sleep. Is it the weekend yet?
