Show us your Life~ Wedding Party, Flowers, Ceremony

Every girl loves to talk about weddings. Expecially when it's yours. We were married on a perfect smashingly hot day in July 2006. The temperature at the Palmetto Bank read 101 as I headed into town to get my hair and make-up done. Sticky, Southern HOT!

My flowers were coral and green. Hydrangeas, Roses, Lillies. The girls carried the colorful bouquets. (shown in pic) I chose to carry an all white bouquet with calla lillies and white hydrangeas. I remember that it was VERY heavy.
My father walked me down the aisle in a packed Southern Baptist Church in a small historic town. When we got to the end, he gave me a kiss on each cheek. (It's our thing.)

This was an awesome group of girls to have standing beside you on the most important day of your life. Most of them I had known since I was born. ALL of them are special to me.

The wedding party was B-I-G. (8 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, 1 flower girl, 1 ring bearer)

Because I'm cute...

Because I'm cute, I get to make a mess when I eat. This is what happens when Daddy feeds me. Mommy tries to keep me clean, but I like to pretend I'm eating it and then spit it out! It's a fun game, you should try it! This night, I had bananas in my ears and nose. Mommy had a great time trying to get the dried bananas out of my nose. I made it extra hard because I kept turning my head. Which reminds me, I also like to play the twist and roll game while Mommy is changing my diaper. She doesn't like that game very much.

Since I'm sooo cute, I get to play with all my toys in my bed. Mommy puts blankets around me so I won't fall and hit my head. Did that once. Cried very hard. I boinked my head on the toy that is in my hand. My fishbowl. I think Mommy cried harder.

Since I'm so darn-tootin' cute, I get to sleep on my tummy. Mommy keeps trying to get me to sleep on my back like the doctor says, but I refuse. I can roll on my belly in two seconds flat. Even when I'm in my snuggie. Talented, you say! Yeah, I thought so. Maybe it should be an Olympic sport. That and rolling to avoid diaper changes. I would be a double gold medalist.

My Favorite Things ~ Memories Edition

Memories. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I have a terrible memory. Stinks. I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday....Wait, I can. I had chicken fingers. I know you all have those times that you love and some that you would love to forget. Today is the day to let those memories out. What are your favs? Mine, In random order.....

• All things wedding related. The engagement. (story coming to a blog near you soon) Picking out my dress. Planning. Bridal Portraits. Picking out the flowers, cake, songs. The showers. The bachelorette party. Getting ready. Walking down the aisle. The "I Do's". The kiss. The laughs. The dancing. The storm. More dancing. That year was one of the best so far.
  
• Giving birth. It is truly a miracle. One minute you are sitting there watching Grey's Anatomy (I was induced on a Thursday and Izzy had cancer) and the next you are pushing out this 8 lb. bundle of cuteness. My cousin and his wife are expecting their first next year. I was trying to explain to them how much your life changes after baby. Not the diaper changes and missing sleep and feeding schedules. The love changes. You love your husband differently...more! And the love that you feel for your child is unlike anything I have ever felt before. God's perfect miracle.


• I went to Scotland my sophomore year of high school. Our school had a partnership with a school there. I stayed for about two weeks and enjoyed every second! As a small town southern girl, I had never really "seen" the world. I loved visiting my first castle and seeing the crown jewels. The quaint little Scottish town. The kilts. (btw, a true scots man wears nothing under his kilt, risque!) I would love to go back some day.


• Playing barbie as a kid. My cousins and I could dream up the silliest things. We could play for hours. I think some kids these days are loosing their imagination and imaginative play because of television, movies, and video games. I want to make sure Emma has a vivid imagination.

Thought you may have needed a good laugh today. That was me at 4 years old...using my imagination!

Mighty Monday

I had so much fun last week with Abby's Mighty Monday that I thought I would give it another try this week.

I might be praying for little baby Stellan. I might be wishing with every breath that he would get out of this stinkin' SVT. Praying for a safe flight to Boston, continued wisdom for the doctors, and peace and rest for Stellan and his family.

I might still be praying for Miller. Miller is my best friends nephew. He just completed his first round of chemo and is at home (finally!) and feeling ok.

I might still be looking for a job. Anyone need a worker? Teachers aren't supposed to have to look this hard for a job. Stinkin' economy!

I might be looking at houses on the internet that are WAY out of my price range and dreaming.

I might have eaten a big chunk of strawberry cake yesterday at my dad's party. I might have regretted it today!

I might have a husband that thinks facebook, blogging and any other internet communication is stupid. He doesn't like it one bit.

I might have the best hubby in the world. Even thought he hates my blogging and facebook stalking and calls me a computer nerd. :)

and I might have bought Em a cute bathing suit on clearance today at a little boutique. Two piece, searsucker, Cute, Cute, C-U-T-E! Pics to come soon, I'm sure!

Show us where you live how you live

A fun Friday treat at one of my favorite blogs to read, Kelly's Korner. Her daughter, Harper, was born on the same day as Emma. Today's task is to show your wedding dress. Here are a few pics from my bridal portrait session.

The dress was simple. (what I wanted) Strapless, a little beading, with a beautiful train. My veil was long and did not cover my face at all because I chose to wear my hair up. (It was July in South Carolina!)My somethings were....

NEW: the dress, the shoes, the veil

OLD: My grandmother's pearl ring that she gave to me on my sixteenth birthday. My grandmother got it for her sixteenth wedding anniversary and I plan on giving it to Emma on her sixteenth birthday.

BORROWED: the garter, the headpiece (Both borrowed from one of my bridesmaids and best friends.)

BLUE: My underwear. (heehee) The prettiest pair of little Victoria Secret thongs I could find that were pale blue the color of the crisp blue summer sky with delicate little white flowers.

Oh, and I did have a six pence in my shoe. Thanks Dad!

To vaccinate or not to vaccinate: That is the question.

My child is current on all vaccinations, but I have been reading up on this very controversial issue. I wanted to quickly run through the pros and the cons

PROS

• Your child will be protected from many illnesses that killed children in the past.
• Most are required for your child to enter school.
• Will keep your little darlings from getting sick and will lower health care cost in the long run.

CONS

• A vaccination can't be as strong of a deterent as actually getting the disease once.
• Getting some diseases block/stop you from getting others.
• Some doctors believe that vaccinations contribute to an erosion of the immune system.
• Some doctors believe that vaccinations (mmr vaccine) have led to an increase in autism.

In my humble opinion, I believe it is better to be safe than sorry. These vaccines have been tested and have been proved effective in lowering the rates of these childhood illnesses. Who knows what the future holds or what changes will come. I mean twenty-seven years ago, I slept in a crib that probably had lead paint and I ate out of plastic containers that probably weren't BPA free. I turned out OK. I think. :) What are your opinions about the vaccination hoopla?

Leather and Lace

Well, not really...just leather. The traditional gift for couples celebrating their 3rd wedding anniversary. It was just three short years ago that I wed my sweet hubby in a huge Southern Baptist Church in a small historical town. These past three years have been the best years of my life. He is a wonderful, thoughtful, loving husband and a devoted and patient father. In the words of Brad Paisley "and I thought I loved you then....."
